Nightime chatterbox

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else living with or married to a nightime chatterbox of a man? OH saunters up at 11pm - Ive finished watching something or reading, night cream on curlers in (I am joking) and in he strolls and its rabbit rabbit rabbit - about anything - all I want to do is sleep  I have told him politely and impolitely to be quiet -but he continues to blah blah blah. I asked why he feels the urge to chat now and not earlier and he doesnt know. Hence the reason I am cream crackered in the morning G'night zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Great idea Eglutyne I will do an "Olive" off on the buses and smoother myself in Ponds cold cream and a hairnet, however he probably wouldnt notice and would carry on blah blah blah. I will send him up to cheltenham to join your OH chickencam - they can rabbit all night to their hearts content

Communication can only ever be a good thing in a relationship and it's a really healthy sign that he's interested in chatting - I'm usually more interested in "other" things before lights out.:anxious::lol:

I don't know your personal situation, but it sounds like you go to bed first. Perhaps you could alleviate the problem by going to bed at the same time? Also you could try both of you going to bed earlier so you make allowances for chat time, or you could just get the chatting done earlier in the night.

Other than that ear plugs and pretending to be asleep is what my wife tries to do when she’s not in the mood for chatting or anything else for that matter! :anxious::lol:

Personally I also like a little chat with my wife just before night time to reflect on the day's events and plan for the next.

My Hubby is a very restless sleeper, and mumbles all sorts of rubbish, fortunately I am an excellent sleeper, so I can ignore this and his loud snores. The only time I get annoyed is when he puts the radio on then promptly falls asleep leaving me listening to some drivel that I can't ignore, if I then turn it off he immediately wakes up.

We shared a hotel room with our ED last year and she nearly exploded with frustration and rage at 2am when OH was snoring away and she couldn't sleep. I thought it was quite funny in some ways, but I couldn't sleep then for her moaning.

Sure I don't know what you mean cluckingclucker :shameonu: I do to bed before OH as I need more sleep than him and he does chat in the early evening but gets mega chatty at lights out. Thank goodness he wasnt at boarding school he would have been chucked out. I really posted to see if was a man thing or if some of you ladies chattered all night too. I do chat a lot during the day so by nightfall have dried up

OH isn't allowed to speak to me if the light is off, even if I'm not asleep! I'm a terrible sleeper and if he starts chatting it kicks my brain back into awake mode and then I can't get to sleep. OH, of course, just closes his eyes and ZZzzzzzzz instantly

Same here! All I have to say before I go to bed is "mouse" and he knows he has to be as quiet as a mouse when he's coming home in the wee hours after doing a night shift - anything wakes me up! :anxious:

Yep.. I have one here. He could discuss thimgs all night, but try to get a decision out of him during the day, no chance  He usually gets up at least an hour after me in the morning (he is currently snoring as I type and I have been up since 7). :x

....and another one here  We both go to bed at the same time and generally quite late. I will have tried to discuss things through the evening and had little response.......he's obviously thinking and then it all comes out  .........and it's generally the intricacies of accounts and taxation and accounts software  I don't sleep more than 6 hours anyway so will be back up at 6am while he's still snuggled up

Wow there seems to be an epidemic of night time chatters and mostly men. I think its been proven we girls need more sleep and most of my mates retire before their OH's. This recent heatwave has made it worse as the windows are open allowing in noise (that magpies days are numbered if he wakes me at 4am again - OH snores thro  ) the lightweight duvet is on and off all night and I am as grumpy as hell. I love the heat but the humidity is a killer. That and my lovely OH blah blah blahring next to me GRRRRRRR :lol:

A man thing? So it's not a women thing for not wanting to chat in the evening then?:wink::lol:

There could be something in it, as I said I like to have the odd chat before night time, so me and your husband makes 2 of us...
