Griffin
I have a morello cherry tree that I planted at the top of my garden a few months ago. It was a freebie and looked quite sorry for itself. In the spring it started to grow a few leaves but they quickly died. It's still bare and obviously isn't doing well in the sheltered spot it's in and I want to see if a sunnier position will help it. Should I dig it up and move it now or should I wait?
Charlottechicken
Well, not in March/April time anyway. That's when I moved my Morello cherry and it rallied then died.
sjp
any time from late October till March I know the nursery that I brourght a flowering cherry from last year likes to lift trees after the first frost they sent mine just before Christmas 2009 I planted it out mid January just between 2 cold spells
Jools
I'd normally say after leaf drop, but not while the ground is frozen. However as it sounds to be very, very unahppy where it is, I'd say now! It might be worth potting it up to give it a bit of tlc first - if it's still leaf-less it may be too late.
Griffin
Well I decided I couldn't just leave it any longer so dug it up this afternoon and it's now in a trug of water and will be planted in a big pot for a bit of TLC. I'll keep my fingers crossed
