Roobaloo
I currently have one Poland chick, it is 2 weeks old today... and as I type, it is stood almost completely upright on top of the electric hen, shouting it's lungs out. Is this a cockerel in the making or just a loud, attention-seeking chick? Edited September 3, 2010 by Guest
Redwing
I dont know, possibly just a noisy one When I had Poland chicks I could sex them at about 9 weeks
Patricia W
I have had a dozen and I reckon I've been right 50% of the time. We've looked at hair do's, stance, thick legs, etc - and the most reliable indicator is - when they crow! Usually about 17-20 weeks I find. Roobaloo
Well, 'Pip' is nearly 7 weeks old...unfortunately, the little loon won't sit still long enough to get a clear photo, the best I can do is a video screen shot (hence the glowing hairdo as the camera isn't great with video!) So this isn't very clear...I was convinced it was a girl at first as the pom pom was very round and full but now it looks slightly looser (though this might be the feathers growing longer...) It's VERY active, also very dominant...but have fairly slender legs. Doesn't seem to have a 'typical' stance...as it goes for almost straight like a runner duck to flat backed (so from 'runner duck' pose with it's legs bent at 90 degrees from the body...!) and everything in between... Any thoughts?
