Well, I got a response today from Mr Kipling aka Premier Foods; a proper paper letter! I guess they are trying to avoid emails back and forth, but I have a reference on the letter so shall be emailing them back to discuss it :D

Very polite and respectful, sounds like they are doing summat in the right direction. I shall email them to thank for the nice letter and asking if they have a timeline for the process/result.

Same here Clare! I'm very surprised as it is quite detailed like you say. Oops, just noticed you provided a linky to yours, will take a look and see if it is the same.

Edited to add: exact same letter except for a few digits on the reference! They do sound like they are taking it seriously, maybe this will chivvy (not sure if that's a word!) them along a bit.

yup i've had the same paper letter today. thought i was special but obviously not! lol

they must be getting a lot of grief if they have put together such a detailed automated response letter, which is a good signal of change.

i don't like the way they used the words 'egg laying flocks'....it might make them feel better about the type of industry they're supporting but it certainly doesn't fool me :notalk: also their promise that they regulary assess every farm against the 'assured food standard' doesn't provide me with any comfort at all  .

however i am glad to hear that they aren't ignoring our pleas, and that switiching to free-range eggs seems to genuinely figure highly in their considerations for future developments :D

i like you clare would like to know of the timescale they predict for such a change...if you get a response on this would you let us know...thanks

I also received the same letter from Mr Kipling. Seems a waste of money sending out a letter by post like that. If that's how they spend their profits then perhaps that is why they don't spend more money on using free range eggs in their products because they are too busy spending it on daft things like letters :?

I think that they are sending out letters rather than emails because they have no intention of entering into an exchange on emails.
