Excessive Dust Bathing?

Recommended Posts

Umm... I didn't know if this should go here or in the Chicken Clinic. Sorry if it's in the wrong place :anxious: .

Priscilla has been dust bathing a lot today, and by a lot I mean for hours, non stop. She seems otherwise perfectly healthy but this just seems odd for her.

Lice/ mites did cross my mind, but we found nothing when we checked her (Priscilla was not very happy about us poking through her feathers, my mum's lip bled for a while thanks to Priscilla's sharp beak  ). We also cleaned ouy the eglu today and we didn't notice any bugs in there.

Any ideas? :?:

Thanks :D ,

Maybe she just liked dust bathing? One of mine is always at it.

Mine do dust bath regularly, but Priscilla was doing it for absolutely hours on end. At least 3 hours non-stop. :?

One of my pekins whilst we was on holiday had a ball of mud stuck underneath her. My brother rang and asked why she was 'rolling in the sandpit' We checked her over and found it was a ball of mud stuck in her feathers which was annoying her.

Well we did check her over and she was VERY mucky. I assumed that this was just because she had been dust bathing for so long. Maybe that was it :?:
