I am presently saving up for a cube so that I can increase my little brood of hens and I was told today from a reliable source that the price of Cubes is going up by £100!!! Seems like such a big increase in price. Such a shame, I know they are good, but nearly £700 is an awful lot of money!

Apparently quite a few things have gone up in price. I can only assume that the plastic used for the eglus have gone up in price so Omlet have to pass these costs on.

They could end up pricing themselves too high - they are already pricey considering the economic climate, seems excessive hike to me nearly 20%!

they almost doulbled the go extention that priced me out im going to build a wir for just a little more than the extention

I too want a Cube at some point, want to try and avoid the increase. I understand the seemingly unfairness of increases, have had that with products we sell. xx

I'd order it as soon as you can, but you can delay delivery if you aren't ready for it yet.

They don't take the money for it until a couple of days before delivery

Can I ask where this info came from. With hubby suggesting last night that we get another cube for the pekins, I called Omlet today and they didn't know about a price increase.

The prices are definitely going up, all housing and runs.

As it is, it'd cost me a months salary...but there's no way I'll be able to save enough before the price goes up. The OH was already twitchy about the cost...there's no way we can justify that much on some garden hens....I could buy two winters worth of hay for the horses at that price.

 

I'll be buying my next coop elsewhere.

I wouldn't put 4 chickens in a Go! not enough room in the run!

I've got a cube fund (I'm saving £2 coins and colouring in a square on my "cube chart" every time I get one). Thats another 50 £2's I'm going to need as well as making a new chart for myself. I was quite pleased with how well I was doing until I read the newsletter - its quite a big jump, esepcially as I'm nearly there!

That is exactly that I thought! I have two hens in mine and sometimes that looks a bit small! I would want at least one extension before I put four in there!

Going on the usual 1msq per chicken, it'd be three at the most without an extension.

Maybe they mean the acctual Eglu ? I'm sure you could get a fair few chickens in the Eglu, but with only a 2 metre run I don't think it would be suitable unless they were able to free range for the whole day

I'm sorry but I only telephoned yesterday and was told that there were no plans to increase the price. then the newsletter gets published and there is suddenly a price increase. Ridiculous!

first of all i just want to say ilove my eglus ,but there is no way i could afford the new prices ,my mum really wants a eglu but i know she wont pay those prices

 

it means i have £1550 worth of eglu in the garden

 

maybe omlet should bring out eglu insurance lol

I guess that the 4 chickens in a Go means they're simply repeating what most poultry house manufacturers say - my experience is to always half the "houses XX hens" number quoted.

i had 3 tiny exbatts in my with standard run ,i felt it was far to small ,they were in it for 8 days before i built a wir for them ,it felt creul they had so little space

Quin even went into the office to ask the others if they knew of any plans to increase the price. Even if they had said that they weren't allowed to say but it would be announced in the next newsletter. At least that would have been something.

They probably didn't want to announce it to individuals before the Official release. Understandable really as it avoids someone posting on here then people contacting the company to confirm it...if they say nothing until an official statement, then we all know for sure.

I can accept that they didn't want to tell me over the phone but why say that there was no price increase planned? Why not say that an announcement would be made public soon? They actually said that they had not heard anything about a price increase.
