grb944 Posted September 22, 2010 Share Posted September 22, 2010 Hello My 2 white sussex hybrids keep fronting up to each other like fighting cocks.. standing tall and puffing out the feathers on there neck. Is this normal? I brought these chocks as pol's in June and still no eggs if no-one tells me the behaviour is normal , I'm going to assume I've brought cockerals but never never any cockeral noises and these 2 are bottom of pecking order 32 weeks and still no eggs ??.. time for the pot I think !!! All of the boys belonging to our next door neighbour are just starting to "square up" to each other in Mexican Stand-offs. They would be POL age if they were Girlies, but only one or two are crowing at the moment. Sorry to sound negative but..... Also Raymond was bullied something terrible by the top chicken, Ginger. cooker Posted September 24, 2010 Share Posted September 24, 2010 I have just logged on to ask a very similar question!! Our edith is 19weeks old this weekend, we have had her since she was 5weeks. She has gone from being our tiny little chicken to our whopping great monster! She is a light sussex, very flighty (but the others were before they decided to start laying) but about twice the size of our other chickens, she makes our other year old light sussex look like a dwarf! She doesn't have an over sized comb and has made no attempt at crowing...doubts have crept in due to her size and the fact she does like to square up to her buddies, and when she gets cross the feathers on the back of her neck stand on end..the feathers on the back of her neck are much longer than everyone elses. I have tried to get a picture of her, but she's quick! if anyone has any pics of a light susex cock I dbe interested to see to compare!
