Lesley
Eh? Who is Alan? er........ you've lost me as well Not difficult after the day we've had.......... We had to take Iona the sheep to the vet because the mastitis she had would not clear. Carl had to go into town first to get the right size socket to put the tow bar back on (long story ) so going to the vet took all morning. We've now learnt how to inject a sheep - I do like to make sure I get my money's worth at the vet's We moved all the sheep around and removed the Omlet netting - the lambs ( ) keep getting tangled up in it - and we set up an area for Iona, apart from the others so that we can move her into the trailer easily. She will have to be milked three times a day until the mastitis clears, and injected with penicillin once a day. The vet who treated Iona did his training on the Shetland Isles and was well informed on Shetland sheep even though all the vets at the practice are horse vets. One of the rabbits escaped into the chicken run and had to be caught...... and the dog has just eaten half the Pot Pourri As a treat to ourselves.......... we went to play with the bees I have a borrowed bee smock and Carl had to wear Lauren's - we forgot to buy anything to use in the smoker so we had to move a few thousand angry bees with no smoke They are all moved into the new hive now and settling down for the night. Photos to follow......
Lesley
Travel Box next to the hive. Brood frame of Bees You can see the Queen - a larger bee down towards the bottom right..... Adding the brood frames to the hive...... We have to add some syrup in a feeder as the brood will need to grow very quickly now..... All set up....... Lesley
Carl at the moment - it requires kneeling down I will have to do it at midday though - we've set up a straw bale in the trailer for me to sit on

Lesley
Our day just gets better Lauren has left Center Parcs ............. in an ambulance This time, she has put her hip out whilst in the outdoor pool. Mansfield Hospital didn't seem to bother about the fact that in the last few weeks she has dislocated her thumb three times and her shoulder twice. She was on morphine in the ambulance - and she copes with pain really well She's gone to sleep now - I wonder what tomorrow will bring

Glad to hear that Iona is sorted out now; let's hope that she gets better soon. If I were any nearer, I'd offer to come and help with the milking - is her lamb still allowed to suckle if she's on antibs?
