ElvisFan
Hi Everyone With Halloween coming up I am up to my elbows in Pumkins - well the insides and the seeds as I am the only one in the family that likes it, so I have made soup and pie gallore and freezer is full, can I give the seeds to the chicks - just as they are or do I need to roast/boil em first ?? Margaret
Mine love the whole thing, Just take a tiny slither out (like when cutting a pie ) and within a few hours the pumpkin is completely clean and ready to make mask with They eat it all, whole head and neck go inside pumpkin, does keep them occupied for ages. This year will try just taking the top off instead .

scarlettohara
I have 2 pumpkins outside my front door (not carved) and was just saying to my Mum I'll give them to the girls, we wondered if I would need to cook them first. I'll just cut a slice out then

welovemarmite
i was just thinking the same. I was wondering about cooking some of it up and putting other goodies in it for them like some bokashi bran and garlic a few worms and seeds... JanTheDiver
The seeds will be fine for the girls, I have been told that they are a natural wormer. I took them out of the pumpkin last year, but this year they are eating them and have been fine. They do like to get in a mess with the whole pumpkin though

beach chick
well I bought a little one in Waitrose today (nothing but the best for the girls, you understand...) - sliced the top off and put it in the run - you've never seen anything like it! forget suspicion about strange exotic new foods, they were straight in there, and it is now hollowed out as clean as you would believe
chickenopolis
You would have thought that I had left a bomb in the run last year when I put the pumpkin in there. There was squawking, running around, almost screaming, until I removed it - then it was quiet again. Might try again this year...."puts fingers in ears to await the outcome".. chick wiggle
Sorry, couldnt resist, another excuse for the chicken and pumpkin piccie My girls gave it a wide berth last year....for about an hour, then they cleared it out completely! If they could have picked it up and licked it clean, they would have
