Unexplained headaches

Recommended Posts

Why would I be getting lots of headaches lately? :? I must have had them on & off for the past 4 or 5 days. I was on the computer at weekend when I felt my heart beat a bit quick & a sort of rush of blood to my head. It was odd. Then yesterday, I had a bit of pain in my cheek. Today I have just taken 2 Parecetamol. I never take medicine, but was fed up of this headache. What do you think it could be. I've had some right old aches & pains during my thirties!

I've also had bad headaches before and a sort of aching in my cheeks/jaw and thought it was perhaps toothache (it felt like it) but then heard alot of people had it and it was going around and it eventually went.

Also, I remember having terrible jaw ache for weeks once and was pretty certain it may have been something with my teeth but I was told (as I was suffering badly from anxiety) that it was that. I've never had it since i've been feeling alot better.

Hope your feeling alot better soon! :D

If you are stressed then maybe you have started grinding your teeth in the night - that might explain the cheek pain?

Other than that I'd look at diet. I know that if I eat combinations of foods then the next day I will get a headache. (Actually this was something that affected me when I was younger and thankfully have grown out of it). Also switching from caffeinated drinks to decaff caused me some headaches.

The only thing that has helped me get relief from sinus pain is massaging my face. Pain killers and decongestants etc don't seem to work.

Good luck.

Sounds like it could be anxiety related palpitations. A bit of underlying tension, you feel the heart flutter, sometimes go red and flushed and get a stonking headache. At least thats what I get  Get it checked out by your GP to be on the safe side, but if it is just a bit of anxiety (could even be age related hormones - I know mine is :wall: ) it is very common and tends to go once you relax and realise it is nothing to worry about! :D

Sounds like pesky sinuses to me too. I had horrible headaches for years - left cheekbone down to jaw (almost feeling like toothache), really bad pain and sensitivity to touch over left eyebrow and pain on the top left side of my head (also sensitive to touch)

It would last for at least 5 days and the first few days of it I also felt very sick and shaky. Tried various remedies, none of which touched it really. Finally had a scan where it was discovered I had blocked sinuses (what a suprise!) and following that I had surgery to open out the sinuses. Much better now - I still get the odd minor bout but usually gone after a day or two. I had a relatively new form of surgery where they insert a balloon into the sinuses and open it out to widen them (a bit like the heart surgery), so I had no bleeding at all afterwards.

May be worth you starting a diary and noting down anything you have done in the few days prior to the headache, what you have eaten, drunk, etc. It may be a particular food setting it off - chocolate was one of my triggers. Also mine invariably started as soon as my period finished so I think hormones played a part too.

You can get a saline nasal spray which can be quite helpful and it is completely inert so you can use it as often as you want.

You have my sympathy, it hurts
