Unsecure chicken perches

Hi all, I have a labrador who is allergic to wheat/gluten .After alot of blood tests etc we have now got him sorted on a food and treats. ( he has fits sometimes even when given wheat/gluten free things) Really didn't want to change anything but have just been to get his wainright small breed dog treats( He won't eat the large breed) and was told they are stopping them I really don't want to have to put him through change again so brought all they had am now on search for others. Does anyone know any good web sites or sources? If anyone knows you guys will.

Are you looking for processed treats or natural ones?

I have a lab with simular problems, everything i give him is natural, Treat wise he has dried sprats

and sand eels, For chews he has pizzle sticks and natural dried cows ears.

 

Zooplus have a great section of natural and hypoallergenic food stuffs.

Hiya Donna, I give our Ben James Wellbeloved food and treats and he's been absolutely fine - no digestive problems and lovely shiney coat all the time too (other than when he's been swimming in a boggy river!! ).

Aww nice you've got a sample coming - is that of the food or the treats?

 

I tend to buy the 15kg bags for around £47 and store them in a big JWB bin we got for free one time. Come to think of it we've done well for free JWB things - today got a nice tile clock and we've also had a mat too that we've put in the car

 

Ben's favourite seems to be 'Ocean Fish and Rice' (we've got a very discerning Lab you know!! )and it's often on offer, for instance today it was 20% free so instead of 15kgs we got 18kgs - last him about about 6-weeks/two months. He gets a pouch topper every now and then, but not daily or anything.

 

I've never bought his food online, tend to goto Jollyes or Kennelgate - we've got both nearby, but Jollyes seem to do more offers.

Hey in fact, just looking there the 15kg bag is cheaper than what I got today! Don't know how much they'd charge for delivery though

Only the treats, I've tried EVERY dog food on the market. Finaly got him settled on Autarky. Cost £18-£20 for 15kg bag. But 2 bags and get free delivery. It's the best thing since sliced bread as sorted my poor puppy out. Really mad that i have to start changing his treats now. Normaly get wainright ( small breed) £1.89 for pkt.

Oh that's annoying isn't it. Can you still get his food as well? Haven't heard of that one before - not that I'm an expert or anything.

Totaly agree, it's not a nice sight when he's bad . No expert on dog food , only what he can/can't eat. found Autarky at farm shop looking for chicken things. It's for working dogs. I must say i do look like a mad women when i have to run up to people in park and say no treats please. They think i'm cruel putting him on a diet and he only weigh 29Ib

James Wellbeloved crackerjacks mini jacks, Coachies and things like bull pizzles and pig's ears are all wheat and gluten free

I'm afraid noone told my dog he was a lab. Is a really babey, Will only eat the dog food, His treats and a hyde bone . Will leave all eles( much to his brothers delight) Even with his food he used to eat round the edges first, then sit down for a bit. Then eat the rest.Curls up like a cat to sleep, oh and he goes to bed at 7.30 every night on his own. Gets chased round garden by guniea pigs and chickens.love him to bits though

I've seen Orijen recommended on the Lab forums but it is pricey. We sometimes buy Pero and their delivery is excellent. Ours are fed raw meat and bones which we buy from the farmers' Market and/or Landywoods. Landywoods deliver every 4 weeks and the lady phones to ask if you need to order anything. They sell frozen tripe etc. We also use pizzle sticks or pigs ears as treats.

I feed Ruby on raw meat and bones with natural treats or home made liver cake. Most hounds are intolerant of gluten, so rice-based products are also good. Ruby has a wee bit of kibble to go with the meat - usually either JWB fish and rice or Skinners Field and Trial (VAT free ) salmon and Rice.

 

The free range butchers that I get my meat and dog meat/bones from also does dried pigs ears etc.

My dog is allergic to wheat as well. I feed him natural dog food (basically meat on bones) and give him treats from ZiwiPeak. They make dry- and canned food as well. He seems to love it.
