Unsecure chicken perches

How wind proof are they. I have put tent pegs round the skirt as extra fox deterent - just dont want ny gels flying over NW London tonight.

There was someone on here that said they saw one that had tumbled around in the wind with the chickens in it but as they were only posting to say how rubbish the Eglu was I'd be very surprised if that were true!

Ta Redwing I think with tent pegs unless we have a tornado should be ok.

I should think it will be fine, ours have never moved an inch and we are bang next to the sea - so gets very windy here.

I'm in Wakefield, Yorks' and according to the news we got the worst of the weather......My cube has not budged an inch , which is on the outside of WIR.....It is not bolted down , just free standing so don't worry.

( gusts got up to 100mph last night.)......Trees have been brought down in the park though, sad really.

Hi, my Eglu once moved in *really* bad wind. By this I mean we went to bed with the run parallel to the house, and woke up with it pointing away the house; the Eglu was in the same place (though obviously turned round). It happened at night so the chickens were inside, but they all laid the next day...

 

I imagine pegs on the run would have been more than adequate to prevent this. It must have been a freak wind that lifted up the covers at the far end of the run (it had an extension too at the time).

Mine did "lift-off" once but that was because of the all the corrugated plastic giving something for the wind to lift . It only shifted a few inches.

 

Some slabs along the skirt soon sorted that problem out .
