welovemarmite
ok, so five weeks after the last one i have got that familiar feeling in the throat and the tingly nose. I have given up on over the counter stuff as have been told that it actually can make things worse (and they never seem to work anyway), so I am trying to manage this naturally and see what happens. I am sure I am not the only one so wondered what tips people have to fight the bugs naturally. Today I have tried - drinking a herbal tea especially for this type of thing - inhaling eucylyptus, pine and rosemary = drinking manuka honey, lemon and ginger... Any other ideas?? Chickvic
I am usually dreadful for having a cold over winter (and being asthmatic doesn't help matters either!) but drinking honey and lemon really helped this year - can't say I like the taste much also if you're coughing a lot a spoonful of honey really helps. sadietoo
Garlic Garlic and more Garlic..the real thing, not capsules, and raw if poss...(try toasting a slice of bread, rubbing it with a little olive oil and s"Ooops, word censored!"ing it with a raw garlic clove and pretend it's garlic bread!!)...added advantage is that no one can get near enough to you for you to be able to pass your germs on... Seriously though, we swear by it....

Lavenders_Blue
Echinacea is great stuff - it boosts the immune system. You can buy it as tablets or as a tincture. Personally I think the tincture is better. You can take it daily throughout the winter as a maintenance dose or 3x per day at the first signs of illness. You need to have a break of a couple of weeks after taking it for 3 months, this advice will usually be on the packet.

CallyChook
garlic and onions - I make a hole at the top of the onion, bury a clove of garlic in, and roast it til it's all caramelised. MY gran used to do it and it always seemed to work, so I have kept up the tradition! Honey lemon and brandy to drink, echinacea tincture, and I'm sorted. It's cold sores I tend to be plagued with, got one at the moment and it's driving me nutty. nothing seems to work.
