chooklady
Took the girls down some water and porridge at 8 this morning only to find that Harriet was missing. My daugther and I searched everywhere for her. We back onto scrubby woodland and then a field where some foxes live. We went right down to the den and we found odd pale feathers here and there but no signs of a struggle either in the garden or outside, it is a bit of a mystery. Yesterday, late afternoon I was emptying the poo trays and feeding our guineas and rabbits and generally making sure everyone had food, water and bedding and the chickens were just foraging around the garden, I thought they were all back inside but perhaps they weren't. I had to take my daugther out and I thought hubby had shut them in properly and he thought I had and they weren't so it's our fault she's missing. I can't believe a fox would just take one so I can only think that she got left in the garden and was taken from there, poor Harriet, I feel very guilty. Patricia W
So sorry to hear about Harriet. I left one out ( black) the other night by accident, but luckily she was Ok. It's so easy to do. Hope Mr Fox doesn't come back. Tricia

beach chick
just a thought -have you looked upwards into trees/bushes? I have had a couple of very naughty girls who have survived nights out by roosting above my head... not easy to do now its dark, but on the other hand, if she is roosting up a tree she will be asleep and therefore easy to grab. everything crossed for you. craftyhunnypie
Please check under any flower pots & buckets you may have laying about the garden. Check in all sheds - incase she waddled off in them whilst open & is shut in. Oh & yes do look upwards in trees, on shed roofs etc. Hope she comes home. Ain't Nobody Here
Any sign of her this morning ?
chooklady
There is no sign of Harriet. I think we have to accept that she has been taken by a fox. We live in a cul de sac so I might e-mail all the neighbours tomorrow to see if anyone has seen anything. Thanks for your replies.
