Good to know. Problem is that legally a vet shouldn't prescribe for an animal they haven't seen. Mine insist on seeing an animal at least within the previous three months in order to provide a repeat prescription. My dog has a digestive problem and regularly needs an antacid when it starts 'tuning up' to prevent it from (quickly) getting out of hand. A consultation is £22 and they charge 3 times the price for the drug as I pay just buying it from a pharmacy online! Fortunately, although it isn't available to dogs without prescription, the same drug is available for humans without prescription. Consequently, I can buy it much cheaper than through my vet and I always have it immediately available (much better for the fury one).

No doubt they will have me over a barrel with the hens! Ho hum!

Does anyone buy this online? I get the impression that, with some websites, you have to indicate that you have a Vets' prescription, but you don"t have to produce it.

You will have to product a valid prescription. Any website supplying without will not be registered with the regulatory body that oversees safe supply of veterinary medicines and therefore will not be supplying authentic medicines. Beware!!
