CrazyDaizy
Hia Folks I am currently worming my two chooks with flubenvet mixed with their layers pellets, and keeping them confined to their run only for 7 days. They have not been impressed and don't seem keen on their layers pellets, til I followed some advice off here. I have mixed their treated layers pellets with warm water (cooled out of the kettle) into a slushy mush, and they LOVE it!!! So I will do this more often as I think they will hopefully enjoy the mush more than the dried pellets. I advise anyone who hasn't tried this to give it a go. Is it as good for them as layers pellets? I'm hoping that soon my chooks might resume egg laying!!! Had nothing from them for months! Chucky Mama
If you are short of eggs I would advise sticking to layers mash or pellets as they contain everything they need to get them laying. Mixing either into a warm mash generally goes down very well. I would hold off treats and goodies if you want to give them the best diet for eggs. gongladosh
Mine love hot porridge - Kiki likes to follow into the kitchen and watch expectantly while it's being made... One day last year we accidentally served it a little too hot so the hens alternated between burning their tongues and eating snow to cool down. It still didn't stop them but we felt appropriately guilty!
Trougher
I think my three ex-batts must be a bit peculiar, because they are not bothered about a hot mash! Reading how other people's chickens love it, I excitedly prepared some for mine, with pellets and some porridge oats thrown in, also some dried fruit. They ate the dried fruit, and a little bit of the mash, but basically aren't that interested. I've tried a variety of combinations, but it never gets eaten, and I've given up. They seem to prefer their food plain, dry and cold.

Yeah this is exactly what's happening with my girls A few weeks ago one of them was moulting + there were feathers all over the place. Now the other is moulting. So many feathers, I can't believe she's not bald by now!!
