Smart Feeder - Light sensor values

I've wanted to have a go at this for a while, seeing it done on Homemade home last night made me go browsing online, and I don't know how it happened but, I seem to have bought a rag rug making tool kit.

 

Does anyone here do it? I feel I may be in need of some advice later.

Is it the sort of kit that comes with hessian sacking & a wooden pokey tool thing? If so it's quite easy to do. I had a dabble at Corris craft centre once.

I've always thought of rag rugs as a bit dull and brown (at least my friend always made them dull and brown ) but I just caught the end bit on Kirsty last night when she was showing that very brightly coloured one. Wow, I'd love to have a go at one like that!

Is it the little length prod through and tie a knot, so you have two rag ends. or the long bit that you poke through at regular intervals?

My mum used to make rag rugs when she was little. There were still a couple of them in my grandparent's house 50 odd years later! I'll ask her what she used to poke the fabric through.

It's like a short, stubby wooden magic wand / screwdriver handle type pokey thingy. I know you like my techie terms, but I say it as it is..literally a stubby pokey thingy!

I think my kit has arrived. I say *think* because in case it IS that, I've not unwrapped it yet so DH can't get cross at me for buying yet another crafty thing.

 

Its very frustrating because I wont be able to use it for at least two weeks. oh, oh, and idea just popped into my head. I can wrap it up, and tell him it was a secret santa thing

When you do unwrap let us know what the pokey thing is called and what you think of it. I remember my grandmother making these and as I need a new rug thought I'd have a go. So I'm very very interested in this thread.

I've opened it, but, alas can't actually spare anytime to do it yet. Also, I need to get some rags sorted, which after Christmas should be easy; DH has lost over 5 stones this year and he is getting lots of clothes for presents. His old stuff will become rugs

we used to call the tool a proddy and the rugs were hence called proddy rugs. My Granddad, bless him, used to go around all the tailoring places in Leeds and blag their old fabric sample books from them. They were just the right width and we just sat and cut them into strips. He had some very smart rugs I can tell you
