Wolfie
Today our hens were turned out of their Walk In Run for a few hours and put in their grass run on the lawn. At 3.00 o'clock I went out to return them to the WIR. A fox was quartering the ground in the field at the end of our garden, within a stone's throw of me. Would've made a chilling picture .... the hens in the foreground, oblivious, and our two Birman cats sitting on the grass run, staring at the fox , watching every move. Please everyone - be vigilant to the fox danger!
Space Chick
Not the first story like this I've heard today sadly They are deperate for food at the moment and cheeky I'm not letting my girls out without supervision right now.... Not that they want to come out in the snow, only my ex batts and my appenzeller want to venture outdoors
Henhathnofury
We have had problems too....fox actually digging in our garden. Couldn't get hold of Scoot but bought a fox/cat deterrent and OH has sprayed it all round the outside/inside of garden. No fresh prints. Even the wild birds seem happier. Can't rely on anything though...it does make me nervous....
Stevie
A lot of fox activity at moment with the cold snap and food being scarce.Rabbits are staying underground in their burrows where its warmer so they're off menu and near me foxes have taken to digging under a tree where the soil isnt frozen for earth worms.Plus last week there was one 20yds from my house which would be the one which has killed my hens in the past. I have every respect for their ability to adapt, but i still dont like them.
scarlettohara
We were kept awake at 3.30 last night for 30 minutes by a screaming vixen, I couldn't let the dogs out as the barking would have disturbed my neighbours although they were probably woken up anyway. My aunt's neighbours dog was bitten on the face by a fox last week and had to have stitches. They live in Dartford !
