craftyhunnypie
It's yonks since I've sewn up any knitting properly. Well any that truly matters. For toys, snoods etc - I can do what I like or think looks right. But I've just finished a tunic knit from Sirdar Indie wool. I want it to look decent - so how do I stitch it up ( what stitch) & what sort of thread / yarn would you use? I might need to look up on you tube. I want to wear it to knitting club next week. I've already started my brushstrokes wooly pully. Emma.x
Egluntyne
I've always done it with a sort of chain stitch and a crochet hook.
Mrs Webmuppet
I use a double running stitch using the yarn I knitted the jumper with and a knitters sewing needle. If the yarn is too thick I have been known to use embroidery thread in a matching colour.
Olly
I do as Mrs Webmuppet does - with very thick yarn, you can split it into thinner strands, but embroidery silk is good too.
craftyhunnypie
So I put right sides together ( garment inside out) & leave a small seam - then sew? Can't wait to get it sewn up & wear it. Not looking forward to ' blocking it' though. Emma.x
Snowy
You don't really need to leave a seam as the 'fabric' won't fray. Stitch as close to the edge as you can. I use a running backstitch with matching yarn.
