Just heard from my good friend Rhoda in Australia that they are evacuating her home town of Bisbane,due to the river rising rapidly & a danger of terrible flooding in the next 48 hours.

My Aunts ex husband & his new family also live in Bris,so my thought are really with the people out there...they have had a months worth of rain in a very short space of time

 

I am not sure how close her house is to the Brisbane River,but I do know that it is a 'Queenslander'...built on stilts, which makes me worry that they are fairly close.

My sister lives just up the coast from Brisbane. They are OK so far thank goodness and haven't been told to evacuate just yet.

 

Have just heard on Sky news that the Oz goverment are turning down offers of help from other countries.

I have just been looking at the some of the videos of the flooding. Truly scary.

My best friend lives outside Sydney, we're in regular contact and they are OK, but it has been truly bad out there.

It is a horrible situation, I have several family members living in the area.

My friend says she can see the stars in the sky tonight,for the first time in weeks.

Hopeful news that there will be a let up in the dreadful conditions

One of my friends emigrated over there a few years ago. She lives just just outside with her partner and their two kids - one of which is only a month or so old. He says they are ok, but if the creeks start to rise, then they may see some flooding. Thoughts are with all those living out there. It looked horrendous on the news

My friend and family in Brisbane hills have emailed the Poms here to say all ok as up hill. very relieved. Sorry for those who are affected
