Marggie
Hi, my name is Marggie and I am well impressed! The hens arrived on Thursday and I have already had my first egg, which has been consumed of course and no I didn't take a photo! Cats are very intrigued but the hens are not, so no doubt the settling in period for the cats is going take longer than the hens and there was me worrying about the Dora and Betty, who seem to know exactly what to do! The torch worked at roosting time and when I got home last night they had already gone to roost. If anyone has any tips about settling cats into the world of hens please let me know! Thanks, M. Olly
I'd just let them get on with it! I can't guarantee that they will ever get used to them - my largest cat still creeps round the edge of the garden if the hens are free-ranging, after a rather distressing confrontation (distressing for him, not the chicken!). The hens will look after themselves, and the cats will probably get more accustomed to them in the end - my other cat is not bothered, and will happily sit on the lawn while they peck around her. mollyripkim
Hi, congrats on your chicks and an egg already My very large cat lays in the garden with the chicks all around her, they were a bit wary of the cat at first but soon got used to her and she has never attempted to chase them, mind you she is extremely lazy and just likes to watch the world go by and luckily never bothers with the wild birds either. I hope yours all get along as well.
