my husband must really love me....

To set the scene

Boston seems to have gone into the ice age - we've had 50inches of snow already...and I haven't seen anything green since before christmas.

So we booked a trip to the Caribbean to get away from the white-white-white scenery and to celebrate my 40th.

This morning (day before departure)

A new storm arrives of 'historic proportions'. The schools are closed, roads are hell, world is coming to an end - general chaos.

But 'we' have to dig out the eglu to drive it about 10miles to a friends house where they can stay while we're gone.

It took about 2 hours to dig the snow out, disassemble the !gored!. By the way - Omlet - if you're reading this...the !gored! does anything but GO! It wouldn't fit in the car, we had to disassemble the whole thing to get the run off.

Anyway...

The !gored! has been broken down into the back of 2 cars (matrix and golf). The girls are in the cat carrier ready for the journey in the snow. And just before we leave the house - I get an email saying that our flight has been canceled.

Now this could have been grounds for divorce/violence/nervous breakdown - but instead he just laughs. Bless him.

So like all good Brits (even ex-pats) we decide to have a cup of tea before we do anything else.

And during the tea break - we get an email to say we've been rebooked for Thursday

Yippppppeeeeeeee!

So the vacation is back on and now we're back to the task of transporting chickens.

We dig the cars out again - another 4inches of snow has fallen in the tea-break time.

And off we go in convoy to Chicken Camp. I'm nervous driving in heavy snow at the best of times but this time it was worse because all I could think was 'don't crash the car, don't crash the car' because I couldn't face explaining to the cops/ambulance why I had 2 chickens in the passenger seat :D

So there you have it - my little story of true love. No other man would put up with me and my crazy chickens

:o

I had a dream last night that we had so much snow that we couldn't open the back door and the chickens were stuck in their eglu...

Your second picture looks just like the dream!! I really can't imagine that much snow

Seems like you've had it for ages, it was snowing over there when it was snowing in England wasn't it? Our 2 weeks was long enough  Hope your second flight goes okay :D

 hope you and your girls have a nice holiday! I hope the weather clears up... we plan to fly to Boston this august for our summer holiday!

August...yeah...it should have melted by then

Seriously though, August is a great month it's very warm, sunny and not too busy as all the universities have closed for the summer. We have a huge student population in Boston.
