Yes, the magic of renewal.

I had my lunch today by the river kent and I watched two dippers courting. One dived for something, maybe a caddis larva, took it to a stone and bashed the living daylights out of it before offering it to its mate; all the time the swollen river rushing inches away. Absolutely wonderful.

The rooks,too, are busy repairing last years nests.

They are the first birds I see nesting and there is a lot of raucous too-ing and fro-ing already.

I noticed this morning lots and lots of daffs coming up, including in my eglu run!!! Is that safe??

We went on a school trip today close to Rutland Water, it was lovely, stood outside while the children sketched and it was very pleasant. So glad the wind had dropped or we would have lost most of the paper

 

I hope spring is on its way.

No snow, but at least the wind has finally dropped. Can't see any sign of daffodils yet...maybe I need to spend some time clearing out the garden a bit so I can see what is in there. I love spring, it promises so much.

Some of my bulbs have been nibbled? By 3 ladies and I dont think I will have any bluebells as I suspect they will be nibbled too

My lot were good at razing bluebells to the ground too.

Now they have a field to themselves we have lovely spring bulbs.

I stupidly left their gate open yesterday and when I came home from shopping they were in the veg patch.

Something IS eating my crocuses, nibbling the stem off the bulb as it emerges. Mice?

I think voles have a bad reputation for eating bulbs, they destroyed a lot in my mum and dad's new garden last year.

 

We had a glorious day yesterday, sunny and warm after a frosty start, very little wind and a real feeling of spring in the air. I was stuck in the office for most of the day, but did manage a decent walk a lunchtime.

 

It is overcast here today, but still very mild and spring like, I have just let the girls out to trash the young shoots in my garden, It wouldn't have been fair to keep them in though, they were in their run all day yesterday because I was at work.

That'll be it. The only thing that my toothless aged cat brings in. Lots live in the hedge under the bird table, You'd think they would be too fat to move with that diet
