Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

A friend offered me 4 balls of wool the other week and as soon as I saw it I knew what it would make! Took me two evenings - lovely, fast growing chunky wool!

The hat is my own design - I just made it up as I went along. The scarf is from Erika Knights book Essential Crochet.

I'm not sure what to do with it yet though, I'm not a hat and scarf person! I will offer them to the lady who gave me the wool first. If she doesn't want them, I think I will stash them towards christmas presents!

How can you just make a hat up as you go along It's excellent and that flower on side makes it

Hats are dead easy! Just crochet round until the crown is the size you want (increasing every row) then crochet rows without increasing. The brim just curls up naturally, depending how long you make it. Also, using a smaller hook for the yarn gives a stiffer finish. Seemples!

it's very smart! So you just did it in the round? It kind of looks a bit trilby like, how did you get that effect?

I've done a few hats now, see last few pics in https://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=303793&id=568396756&l=2d4c2ec5a7 so i'm pretty confident i could do it if it's just done in the round.

Thanks Justine, but It was my Mum who was interested. She popped over and saw the picture of Snowy's hat and loved it. Her crochet is better than her cooking
