Crochet hat and scarf

Recommended Posts

A friend offered me 4 balls of wool the other week and as soon as I saw it I knew what it would make! Took me two evenings - lovely, fast growing chunky wool!

The hat is my own design - I just made it up as I went along. The scarf is from Erika Knights book Essential Crochet.

I'm not sure what to do with it yet though, I'm not a hat and scarf person! I will offer them to the lady who gave me the wool first. If she doesn't want them, I think I will stash them towards christmas presents!

 Hats are dead easy! Just crochet round until the crown is the size you want (increasing every row) then crochet rows without increasing. The brim just curls up naturally, depending how long you make it. Also, using a smaller hook for the yarn gives a stiffer finish. Seemples! 8)

The pattern for the scarf is in Erica Knights book, Essential Crochet. Copyright applies and is not mine to post.

There is no secret to the hat - crochet in the round, then crochet straight. 'Tis purely trial and error as to what works and what doesn't.
