bluekarin
I have just got the email with the schedule attached - and the price list We are a family of 5 and most of the tickets are allocated at a max of 4. Not even mentioning the price The opening ceremony starts from £2012.00 for AA seats and is £20.12 for D seats. There are lots of different prices so have a look here if you are interested. But, unless we win some tickets, or the Lotto, it doesn't look like we'll be able to go
C&T
Don't forget all the events where you don't need tickets - the marathon, some of the cycling etc. We plan to enjoy all of those that we are able, and take food and drink with us wherever possible rather than buying at what I am guessing will be inflated prices!! A max of 4 tickets seems a bit tight - I can understand them having a restriction, but there must be lots of families in your position. I am looking forward to it all though!! Seagazer
Hubby was talking about this last night, we were all (5 of us) out for his birthday dinner. He said how unfair it is that we can only get a max of 4 tickets so someone will miss out. ES said he and his friends were going to try to get some tickets. We will definitely try to get to the marathon and other things that might be free. We are fairly close to Greenwich so hopefully will get to see something. I would be so upset to be so close but not see anything.
sage
Such a pity the rest of the country doesn’t get a look in. Would love to have gone to some of the events. But too far away and too expensive. Sage
chickenNutter
Am I the only person who can't get excited about the Olympics. No one can afford to go, so watching it on telly it might as well be in china. It will just cost the country a fortune when we are already skint. Waste of time if you ask me. Bah humbug. LuckyChickenLover-
Am I the only person who can't get excited about the Olympics. No one can afford to go, so watching it on telly it might as well be in china. It will just cost the country a fortune when we are already skint. Waste of time if you ask me. Bah humbug. The whole thing has been a waste of money from the start. To be honest I don't want to watch it, but if I did I'd just watch it on TV! So much cheaper! However having said that I do know someone who might be competing in it (she was in the Bejing Olympics so it's pretty likely ) so I will be watching the athletics. BeckyBoo
I don't think there's a country that's hosted it that's ever broken even never mind made a profit. As Greece is the original home of the Olympics can I suggest that they get a loda of cash from each of the competing nations, set up a PERMANENT Olympic stadium (that "Ooops, word censored!"ody has to pay a football club to take on once they're finished with it) then put the names in a hat and every four years a different nation gets to be "host" and do it's own ceremonies but all in Greece?? The cycling is coming to Surrey and having looked at the route, you won't be able to get ANYWHERE in the county whilst it's on. Griffin
Ditto bluekarin My older girls have been so excited and really hoped we'd see a few events but having now seen the cost I'm doubting if we'll be able to go at all. And we're a family of six If I go without my annual pilgrimage to the Cheltenham Festival we might all be able to go, as long as it's not a restricted to four tickets event. Daisy wants to see synchronized diving, Molly three day eventing and Emily gymnastics.
ElvisFan
It has never interested me either but with it coming to Blighty I would it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to get involved, as who I work for is an official sponser we had first dibs on volunteering to help out and as I found out more about it, it turns out you have to go to London for the entire time or to where they choose to send you (you don't get a choice) AND pay for your own accomodation !!!!!! err No. I for another will be watching some of it on the telly - just the cycling, shame there aren't any tandems

Geoid
I think it is great that London is hosting the Olympics, an international event happening in my home city
C&T
I think it is great that London is hosting the Olympics, an international event happening in my home city Me too Fred! Manchester benefitted from the Commonwealth games a few years back (that was brilliant - went there and saw mixture of paid for and free events - fantastic atmosphere!) Glasgow will benefit from Commonwealth games (Is it 2014??) Cardiff has the fantastic Millenium Stadium - and the redevelopment around there. I know that the Olympics is on a different scale - and maybe I am hopelessly optimistic or naive, but with the improved transport links, and better athletics facilities etc, I hope it does help that end of London in the long term. And all the tourists will be spending their money left right and centre - so local businesses should do well - plus some of the visitors are bound to travel around - Britain isn't so very big. But as I say, perhaps I am wearing rose tinted glasses!
Cinnamon
Whilst I hope everyone who wants to go,can get tickets & can go,you would have to pay me to attend Just to clarify, this is because I loath & detest sports of all kinds, not necessarily because I think the Olympics is a bad thing. Valkyrie
Sorry - not remotely interested in the olympics. Too much silly politics and other shenanigans that take place spoil the whole thing nowadays.
