Not even mentioning the price The opening ceremony starts from £2012.00 for AA seats and is £20.12 for D seats. There are lots of different prices so have a look here if you are interested. C&T Posted February 15, 2011 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Don't forget all the events where you don't need tickets - the marathon, some of the cycling etc. We plan to enjoy all of those that we are able, and take food and drink with us wherever possible rather than buying at what I am guessing will be inflated prices!! A max of 4 tickets seems a bit tight - I can understand them having a restriction, but there must be lots of families in your position. I am looking forward to it all though!! He said how unfair it is that we can only get a max of 4 tickets so someone will miss out. ES said he and his friends were going to try to get some tickets. We will definitely try to get to the marathon and other things that might be free. We are fairly close to Greenwich so hopefully will get to see something. The whole thing has been a waste of money from the start. To be honest I don't want to watch it, but if I did I'd just watch it on TV! So much cheaper! However having said that I do know someone who might be competing in it (she was in the Bejing Olympics so it's pretty likely ) so I will be watching the athletics. As Greece is the original home of the Olympics can I suggest that they get a loda of cash from each of the competing nations, set up a PERMANENT Olympic stadium (that "Ooops, word censored!"ody has to pay a football club to take on once they're finished with it) then put the names in a hat and every four years a different nation gets to be "host" and do it's own ceremonies but all in Greece?? The cycling is coming to Surrey and having looked at the route, you won't be able to get ANYWHERE in the county whilst it's on. And we're a family of six If I go without my annual pilgrimage to the Cheltenham Festival we might all be able to go, as long as it's not a restricted to four tickets event. Manchester benefitted from the Commonwealth games a few years back (that was brilliant - went there and saw mixture of paid for and free events - fantastic atmosphere!) Glasgow will benefit from Commonwealth games (Is it 2014??) Cardiff has the fantastic Millenium Stadium - and the redevelopment around there. I know that the Olympics is on a different scale - and maybe I am hopelessly optimistic or naive, but with the improved transport links, and better athletics facilities etc, I hope it does help that end of London in the long term. And all the tourists will be spending their money left right and centre - so local businesses should do well - plus some of the visitors are bound to travel around - Britain isn't so very big.
