percy049
Today, we picked up a light sussex (Laura) and a Bluebelle (Binny) (with some red on her belly!). too bad its raining. Very pleased, should get some eggs soon from the bluebelle! The breeder said we could put our 2 existing girls in with them tonight, as its 2 on 2. Is this OK? as long as we take them out early tomorrow. In the box now in the run
rossco
they will fight in the morning when intruducing new chickens i always let them free range round the garden more room to get away if they need to also i put extra water and food out in a different location to your normal place

percy049
Violet and Bessie were VERY annoyed to see new chickens in their house... Violet sqwarked non-stop so we put her back in the garage. The new girls ignored them mainly, apart from the odd stare-down!
nikkichick
They look gorgeous girls! Mine are also working out their order! they are doing short sprints past each other to avoid getting pecked!
coco
They are lovely, be prepared to seperate them though as the sussex looks fairly young and may not be able to stand up to your other girls.
percy049
yeah she is, she was the one getting picked on by all 3. we've kept them seperated tonight as we didnt introduce them much (rain!). we've put a torch on in the house to try and get them to go in! coco
She'll settle down when she starts laying, my sussex was very nervy when she was young, now she follows me round bok boking for treats.
percy049
Violet (the older one who is charge) squarks NON STOP whenever she sees the new ones. I'm worried about neighbours complaining, and shes staring to loose her voice!
