Getting some big fluffy ones - Update - Pics ***

Recommended Posts

Whenever I drive to Cambridge to see my son, I pass Mini Meadows but I usually have a car full of student bits, or a student or am in a huge rush.

Not today....

So....I turned off the main road & found my way to their door.....

Lovely set up, beautiful birds and great people.

They happened to have a salmon faverolles ready to go, who had been living with some bantams for company since her sisters were all sold last weekend (when the spring sun brought everyone out in search of chickens)......and as I wanted a faverolles AND some bantams, how could I resist.

Practically chickens of fate

We love orps!!! we just lost our gold laced cockerell, but have a GL girl, a reversed GL girl (gold with chocolate tips) and two cuckoo's and they are just gorgeous!!!!

You can't beat a fluffy bottom for a cuddle.... infact lightening wont go to bed with out a cuddle, or thats how i explain why bedtime for chickens often takes as long as it does for the children .... especially if the sun is shining!!!

they just have the best temprement and are great with the kids but do take up more room, they are much taller and wider than an average hen, so watch your space in cubes etc. Our cockerell was massive but very gentle.

Really sad, my faverolles died this morning having been poorly all week...Vet baffled, breeder baffled, chicken wise friends baffled ...BUT.....

Ben at Mini Meadows is keeping a pair of girls from the next hatch for me to collect later in the season as in just 4 days Faith proved that I was absolutely right in thinking faverolles are a wonderful breed.

That is so sad. Pleased the breeder will be able to sort you out with more even if you do have to wait a while. They are amazing.
