:P Have just posted some more pics in the gallery ... The Manchester Utd Girls (Red, white and black) . Ebonies water and food containers work really well .. so much so that Ginger and Mrs Snowy are drinking her water through the partition fence  . It was easy to put the lid on the mash tub last night, and kept any mice or rats OUT, so worked a treat.

I will be leaving the extra feeders up once the fence comes down, so there won't be any problem for Ebony to get food and water, if the other 2 bully. 8)

:shock::shock: Well I now know who top hen is ... MRS SNOWY :shock::shock: . She went for Ebony good style tonight, which I had a hunch would happen, the 1st night is always the best  .

Anyway, after a bit of feather flying and squaking, all has gone quiet, so I hope they all settle down.

Did notice Mrs Snowy spends more time at the dividing fence than Ginger, so that was a major clue.

:P Another update, as we are now in our third week of having Ebony.

She laid her 1st !egg! on Tuesday, under the makeshift feeder in the run, so I decided to take down all barriers and let all 3 have access to the eglu for laying purposes. Ginger had been nastier with pecking, so for the last week I had Ebony and Mrs Snowy together, so at least only one would be at her when they were finally to be together.

So glad I did the seperation from Ginger, as Mrs Snowy stopped hassling Ebony, and Ginger has stopped altogether now too. :D .

Yesterday (thursday) was the next time for Ebony to lay ... and she did it in the nest box ... clever chook. All three laid, so its really nice that they get on, and lay in the right place without any squabbles. Ginger now lets Ebony clean her beak (like Mrs Snowy used to, when I 1st got her) and all 3 seem very comfortable with each other. Phew ...... what a releif, and at night they all roost on the bars, and no more sulking in the nest box. :P

They really do need the separation don't they?
... definately, Lesley. After about a week, when I 1st removed the fence .. I found Ebony in one of the conifers, she could only escape the pecks by going up.. Once, I had noted who the main pecker was, it made more sense to put Ebony with Mrs Snowy. Then at least when all 3 were together she only had to watch out for Ginger. . Free-ranging helped too, as Ebony had more escape routes ... but now, its really good as they all snuggle in the Eglu, and the other 2 even let Ebony feed in peace.

Bizarre thing though ... Ginger keeps Ebony company while she lays, and Mrs Snowy just stays out in the run scratching. :P .

I think it takes a good 2-3 weeks to properly introduce new chooks, and its a good thing to know, that they don't get along initially, and they have to work it out. Maybe I should start a Chook Mediation company ...:lol:
