the-marks
Hi, with the much lighter mornings, I just wondered what time everyone else let's their girls out? Ive got an eglu classic and they were being very vocal this morning when I opened the door at 7 am! No lie in this weekend then I guess! Jools
Yes I'm on around 7am now, though it has been earlier a couple of times this week. I try to make it not too early though as I like to make sure all self-respecting foxes have gone to bed first! Sam
I leave my coop door open all night, all 4 are in their 2m run from whenever they wake up until 8, then I let them into their wir. Not ideal but it works (will soon be making wir foxproof )
poppy ben grace
We are up at 6 every day with the children so i guess that works better for the chooks, i dream of the days of lazing in bed until 8 am ! If you have a secure run i would def leave the door open.
quickcluck
Mine are up at about 5.30, which is fine unless there something in the garden they don't like, then they are REALLY noisey, which means I am running about like a banshy in my pj's and wellies chucking corn all over the place
scarlettohara
8 am for Freckles our cockerel and his wives, latest ex-batts as well and banties as I have one very noisy millefleur The big girls in the cube have their door open all the time as they make a racket if you don't let them into the WIR Clocks go forward on Sunday, don't forget
Purplemaniacs
I let mine out between 6.30 and 6.45. I could leave the door open so they could go into the WIR but I have just got into the habit of shutting them in at night. Chrissie
Egluntyne
Mine are up and going about their business by 5am. Clocks go back tonight I believe, or is it forward so that will make the mornings darker (to us) for a short while. It's forward! 'Spring forward, fall back!'. Emzy
Im very lucky I have (had i lost one yesterday) the laziest chickens ever! I let them out at around 8am and there is never any noise to come out earlier and sometimes they come out and eat and then go back in!! Thats not very often though usually they just relax on the grass. Im sure now Ive said this my next chickens will have me up at 4!!
Sammiboo
they are usually out by 7am at latest. i am going to stay at my brothers next week overnight and i am not sure what to do. Leave the door open or ask next door to open and close the door.
poppy ben grace
i would ask next door to do it for your own peace of mind, you never know.
Mercedes55
Ours have been very vocal lately. We had got into the habit of leaving the Cube open at night as we have a WIR but some mornings they have woken us up at 5am So we now shut them in and go down about 7am to let them out, but we can still hear them even though they are in the Cube, although not as clearly as before. We know that our nearest neighbour is happy with the sound, she says it reminds her of holidays in the countryside. We haven't mentioned the hens to any of our other neighbours as we live in an end house and have the backs of gardens from around the corner backing onto the side of our garden. I would be very surprised if they don't hear the noise as even during the day they can make the most horrendous sounds. I just keep telling myself it's not as noisy as dogs or children in the garden
percy049
Ours start sqwarking at 5:45 lately..... can't wait until it gets warm enough for us to leave the eglu door open all night!
peckingham palace
We were told by someone in the know to leave our cube door open unless its really cold. Do they make lots of noise, I'm sure our neighbours will complain once we have our chickens installed on Thursday if thats the case??? Old Speckled Hen
Cube door open all night and chooks are out in the run as soon as it's light. Flash joins them from his subterranean roost at 7.30 treads a couple then crows good morning to the world. Then I let them out into the field. Do they make lots of noise, I'm sure our neighbours will complain once we have our chickens installed on Thursday if thats the case??? I think the amount of noise varies. We have a couple who seem much louder than the rest. One of them is our Welsummer and the other we haven't quite worked out yet. We have noticed that one seems to start the rest of them off and it can sound loud if it's really early and there are no other noises going on. As I said earlier ours were making a racket at 5am last week and they actually woke us up. The Cube is about 50ft away from the back of our house and we do have the windows open slightly and we are both light sleepers. I think if you are a normal sleeper then you most likely wouldn't be bothered by them
