Decisions, decisions!

 

I'd like to get some bantams and I'm torn between another Go or a Classic. I have a . Don't use the original grub and glug though as the Go grub was too small - ruffling feathers. And the nesting box on the classic looks deeper so maybe current girls could have a classic and then put bantams in the .

But two Gos would match nicely.

Can't get a cube because the chickens are kept at the front of my paddock, which only has small flat areas.

 

Is anyone going to tell me to save my money for something more sensible?

I prefer the Classic and they are easy to get second hand too which is a bonus

I much prefer my classic for collecting eggs and doing night time checks as you don't have to take the whole back off

I've been keeping a lookout for a second hand eglu... Two Go's would match but I might be missing out an something amazing from the Classic if I don't try it. *panics"

And then what colour to choose? OH says I can have any colour (including pink ) apart from green?!

I love the classic, so well designed. I think it's more pricey but it seems more sturdy somehow. Its super easy to clean and put together, move etc! I got mine second hand for £260 from the for sale section!

I really, really wanted a classic. I like the shape better than the Go. However, only the Go was available over here in the states. If I was getting a second I'd get one to match. Since they are both great I'd rather have them the same. You guys are so lucky you can get second hand Eglus. That's impossible here in the states. I found one cube and it's for sale for the full retail price. Ha ha

PBG, I'm very lucky... just wish it was completely flat for chicken keeping.

ThinkingChickens, eglus seem to hold their value here too. But I wouldn't play the 'new' price for a second hand one.

You probably won't sell it but it is a good way of justifying spending so much £ on a chicken house! I've said the same thing to myself!

I just went through the same decision making process only to discover that Omlet US had already made the decision for me and got rid of the classic....so I got another

my plan is to stack them in my WIR - and soon....more chickens!

I'm guessing so as the arrives flat-packed. But noticed that they sell the rabbit eglu - and that's just a regular eglu without bars isn't it?

The rabbit Eglu's tray is a bit different I believe. However, you can get a replacement tray. I have the Go and now, rather than get another go I'm saving for the Cube. Then, I will force my husband to help me build a WIR. LOL. He just hates building stuff but he's good at it.

Thinking chickens, 'force' OH to build WIR. OHs have their uses!

I have a go and a classic and think the GO is easier to clean out - especially the nest box area - with the go you can take the entire floor out with the classic you need to take the top off to clean the nest box area. I like the classic for having the little egg port hole but prefer the GO for cleaning purposes.

Thanks Bev, that does help. I know Classics are more popular but I would have thought the Go would be easier to clean due to the two trays sliding out. Decisions!

the is super easy to clean - everything slides out - I give it a a hose down and let it dry in the sun
