jlo Posted April 16, 2011 Share Posted April 16, 2011 I have never really been on this bit of the forum before as I have only had the chooks. All that has now changed. We picked up (K)anton from his foster home this afternoon. He is about three years old; a lab/collie cross and he is really rather sweet. We are not sure of his background as he was rescued from Ireland. I will probably be on here for advice quite a lot in the coming months! We have just adopted a rescue and its working out well. i think ours was probably found locally but it is frightening how many dogs need to be rescued and Ireland is often mentioned particularly for lurchers and bull breed crosses. jlo Posted April 17, 2011 Author Share Posted April 17, 2011 We have now rechristened our little lad. He was just not responding at all to either Kanton or Anton. I asked the foster carer if this had been his name for any length of time and she said that it was fine to change it. We tried various names to see which got a better response. My mother asked what I thought an Irish Lab would be called and, quite cheekily I said "Paddy" at which point his ears pricked up and he came running up to me. Paddy it is! Our Alfred is Alfie, our Max Maxie and the neighbours dogs names have also acquired ee endings. Don't think I would like it on my name though! He sits and waits for me to come out when I go and see them. They are getting used to him. Hope being a lady of leisure is suiting you - must meet up some time! We let him off the lead for the first time yesterday - went well until he chased after another dog and couldn't be seen for dust. Then he got bitten by a horrid dog on a farm.
