I fear reprisals in America and here.

 

From my local paper this morning

At 4.32pm yesterday, Monday 2 May, police officers from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary conducted a stop check on a vehicle close to the Sellafield site in West Cumbria.

 

"As a result, police officers from Cumbria Constabulary arrested five men from London, all aged in their 20s, under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.

 

"They were taken to police custody in Carlisle overnight and are being transported to Manchester this morning.

No killing is ever just, no matter what someone has done - it doesn't cancel out their deed, just (in this case) creates a martyr of them :roll: I'm not suggesting that we ought to rise above them, but our troops (as well as those of the US) are also guilty of committing acts of terrorism just as heinous in the name of 'war'.

 

The whole thing makes me sick to the stomach, and I feel that the US, going in there with their guns blazing as per usual, have opened a Pandora's box of evil :roll:

I refuse to watch the videos of his death. How can any decent human being condone that kind of voyeurism? Bad things happen to good people and everyone realises that is wrong, but some believe that bad things happening to bad people make things better - it doesn't. It doesn't create any kind of 'balance' ... it just darkens the soul. All we can do in dark times is be the best people we can be.

 

And surely I wasn't the only one watching the wedding and wondering if there was sufficient security at such a prime event?

thank you for that bouldercroft, I have been feeling so lost and angry with those scenes in Washington and NYC. These words are a perfect reminder of decent people needing to rise above what it done by others.

I am not a huge Obama fan (think he's a bit smarmy) but I totally agree with his decision not to publish photos of a dead Bin Laden, on the grounds they will become a rallying point for other fanatics. and let's face it, those who are crying 'conspiracy theory' wont believe a photo anyway will they? (or DNA, or anything really).
