Ocado

Recommended Posts

I too emailed after seeing this post (though as far as I am aware have not been told about increase to £10.99) and have been offered 6 months @ £2.99 for midweek only (Tues, Weds & Thurs) deliveries or a 12 month contract with no conditions for £6.99.

I am going to go with the £2.99 midweek as that's when we have most deliveries. :D

So thanks for bringing to our attention. :D

Poached yours might not have been going up to £10.99 as different areas have different rates. Well done on your discount though. Special rate for my area was in fact £6.99 per month so I know I've done really well.

Ocado have 2 ratesin our area. We have 2 accounts in our house (his and hers ) and they offered it to me at £6.99 and OH at £3.99. We have to check each week to see who is being offered the cheapest delivery (because we don't pay for the delivery pass) and sometimes there can be as much as £4 difference for one specific delivery.

Thanks Anne please pm me I really will take it further as I am so cross. In many ways I did not mind the £9.99 even though I was paying £5 per delivery really most months. I liked the convenience of my slot 5-6pm fortnightly on a Friday which suited us fine. I only got the price increase email yesterday and would have been non the wiser but for this thread so thank you. I then went looking on the Money saving forum and there were a lot of posts about £3.99 per month. My contract expires on June 9th and I am very tempted to break up my shop into 4 £40 slots each week for the remainder of the time!!! Not very green or planet conscious so I won't really. Part of why I am so cross is that I have always extolled the virtues of Ocado over the rest for the last three years :!:

Hi Anne and fellow Omleteers. My delivery was very late again (second time in a row), so I rang to complain this evening and added in my feelings regarding their poor treatment of me over 'Delivery Pass' and.....a positive result!!!!! They phoned me back twice BUT I am going onto £3.99 per month for the year on my same scheme, which means I get the Christmas delivery slots, plus a £10 voucher for the late deliveries.:clap: I am happy. :D I am starting to think it depends onthe person who answers your call. Many thanks for the advice.

Well done all of you for pursuing this  Power to Omleteeers  ! Seems a very bad plan to fleece loyal customers just to attract new ones who won't stay once the introductory deal's gone

I use to use Ocado occasionally when I wanted to splash out, as no one else delivered here. Now Tesco and Sainsburys have discovered this back-end of the universe, and I use Sainsburys after a couple of disagreements with Tesco about the poor quality of the fresh produce (apparently a brown cauliflower was fine  ) and the frequent lack of discounted items (all the full-price stuff arrived OK, just the bargains were out of stock :( ). So far Sainsburys have been good and reliable and midweek delivery is free if the order is over £100 - sometimes I'm forced to buy a bottle of wine to push it over the limit . I now only use Ocado if there's a serious discount on offer. Might see if Waitrose are sending missionaries this way yet ... :D

I have used OCADO for over a year now with very few problems. I love being able to just make a few clicks and it's all done. My son has Aspergers and hates shops so doing it all online saves my sanity and keeps me out of the nuthouse for a bit longer! For bits I can't get or that I run out of I use my local shops, which means no petrol and even if a few pennies more - it doesn't matter. I grow most of my veg and of course have more eggs than I know what to do with each week. So it's greener all round!

On another note about them, OCADO are an indpendent company and all your shopping comes direct to you from big warehouses, not from the local shop. So it is fresher and hasn't been picked from a shelf and sat in a trolley for an unknown length of time, during which it will not be stored at the right temperature. It is then delivered to your nearest "hub" depot overnight for delivery to you direct. So things should always be fresher!

On the down side - the packers are awful sometimes, with heavy things put on top of lighter things or cleaning products in with food etc. Although i've never had a problem personally and they replace things without quibble. However - any returns are deducted from the drivers bonus! (not the packers).

How do I know this? simple - other half drives for them! So yes! I do get free delivery on 2 days a week and get his staff discount. Which is great! However - his pay is not good - which is not great!

Would I use them even when he finds a better job? - you bet I will! I've tried the rest - and OCADO are head and shoulders above them in my opinion!

I'd heard that too, but the drivers are always so nice if you do reject a substitute or send back something that has burst or is damaged.

I shopped at Te$co last night as I had a £5 off voucher - reminded me why I no longer darken their doors  That store never ceases to display the worst about this town and its residents  9pm at night... one girl in a bikini and shorts, another (VERY large) woman in PJs, short hoodie and slippers... it's like the people of walmart website

Interesting post Louisewomble. I am sad to hear that the driver is penalised rather than the packer :x What is the reason for this do you get told? Does anyone suffer if the customer rejects a substituted item?

Yep - all returns come off his quarterley bonus! Even the subs!

The drivers are as pee-ed off about the packing as anyone else, my OH goes through the totes (boxes) at the start of his shift, re-packing and standing things upright etc. He is always nice - as most of the drivers are - they find it very frustrating when things leak everywhere because of bad packing. They have to clean it up and explain to the customer. They then end up with a mess to clean up in the van too and often it's all over them as well - it's not nice to sit driving for hours covered in milk/yoghurt/or whatever type of goo! Some customers get shirty about it - most are fine and realise it's not his fault!

They also lose bonus for bad feedback - so if someone complains about a leaky item or whatever - it's a double whammy and they lose more bonus! :wall:

I love OCADO - I too hated TESCOIDS when I used it recently for some bits requested by a friend who has moved to France and was missing them (???). Then again - I pretty much avoid supermarkets at the best of times now - I have so many better things to do with my time - Chickens/allotment/swimming to name but 3!

That's not on at all and also the part about subs in your next post. I'm usually OK with the subs but the last one I had was a piece of beef which was double the price of the one I'd ordered and it wasn't a huge piece either so I sent that back. Only spillages I've had have been due to the packing - burst yoghurts and leajing milk.

Would love to complain to Ocado about the drivers losing their bonus because of this but I would imagine it's not supposed to be public knowledge :?
