beach chick
of chicken keeping, I have been PECKED! and it hurt! ow ow ow ow! Shirley snuck up behind me while I was checking the quail pen, and had a snap at my thigh - I assume she thought there was something edible, either that or she's turned into psycho-chicken
auntielizzie
I don't know what I'm doing wrong then, coz I get pecked all the time Either I look far too tasty or I keep my chickens far too hungry (or maybe its because I spoil them so they always think I must have some goodies in my hand for them). Bessie is always pecking at the backs of my legs when I'm cleaning out the run; she also likes to try and peck the pattern off my wellington boots (little chickens of course!). As for Betty Boo, the little darling, she'd peck my face off given the chance (apparently my nose is irrisistable ). They're lovely really, funny little things
Chortle Chook
Your nose pecking chicken made me laugh I have a chook who is obsessed by a little gold bracelet that I wear on my wrist. She grabs onto it and hangs on. She won't even let go for meal worms. Perhaps she thinks she is a magpie
auntielizzie
Your nose pecking chicken made me laugh The thing is, I used to have a beautiful Turkish Van cat called Bubbles (she died a few years back) and she had a thing about my nose too! It was no laughing matter - it hurt! She used to lull you in to a false sense of security with her great big hypnotic eyes (trust in me, just in me - like the snake in jungle book!). She did it to the veterinary nurse once as well I'm so sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh What is it with my nose Edited May 6, 2011 by Guest
Plum
Doesn't sound good getting your nose pecked. I was dozing on the grass the other day and got pecked on the top of my head and when I looked up one pecked my armpit ow! I was on my grass

Ain't Nobody Here
One of my girls undid the lace on my slippers yesterday. It's fawn coloured and obviously looked just like a tasty worm . (Not stricly a pecking story, but it made me laugh .)
Lavenders_Blue
Crikey, I get pecked all the time! Usually by Bella and Rosie who are pecking partners in crime. I am currently sporting a purple mark on my knee where Rosie managed to grab a beakful of skin through my jeans and bruise it!
cheekymonkey200
I have a chook who is obsessed by a little gold bracelet that I wear on my wrist. She grabs onto it and hangs on. She won't even let go for meal worms. Perhaps she thinks she is a magpie I have this too! One of my girls managed to do a runner with my gold ring the other day- she's a super thief, I dont know how she got it off my finger but she ran off with it! Managed to get it back- luckily. My two definately think they are magpies!
Lavenders_Blue
I'm sure someone once posted on here that their hen had pecked an earring out of their ear and swallowed it
chickencam
I used to have a hen who whould peck me as soon as I turned my back, she was naughty and it was a form of attention seeking, but she had such character that she was one of my favourites. I can't say that i miss being pecked though.
Penguin
Baked pecked my mouth so hard one time that it drew blood ... now she's doing it to the other chickens - bad girl! Fried also likes pecking legs but only when they are in trackie bottoms, that's because one time we were spray cleaning in trackies and mud and bugs got all over the trousers so she pecked them off and now I think she makes the association! surfer_chicken
My girls love buttons and nail polish. Last month one pecked a mole on my neck- that was the worst pecking I've received
zakjon-98
One of my chickens pecked me really hard when I chose her from the breeder (shes a barnevelder and has a pretty big beak!) she doesn't do it anymore, she just wipes the mud off her beak on my trousers whenever I'm outside!!!
