Tea drinking children?

Recommended Posts

I drank tea at a young age as my nan, being a typical Welsh matriach, had the kettle on all the time!

My kids are 9 and 6 and have never really drunk tea. Our boy (9), loves green tea or liquorice tea and would probably drink builders brew if he was given it as an option. He really only has tea when he works with his grandad in the school hols. Our 6 year old girl has never been offered it, so not sure if she likes it or not...

I drank tea from an early age, not sure how old but I remember my uncle being diagnosed with a heart condition and told to give up sugar, when he stopped having sugar in his tea I did too.

I must have been about 8 then as it was a couple of years before we sold the farm and I was 10 then and I remember my mum saying that she was amazed that I gave up sugar and kept to it. Have never had sugar in tea since.

I give my grandchildren milky tea no sugar, except for the one who is allergic to milk :D

I was having tea and coffee from about eight or so - became a massive tea drinker once I got to boarding school at eleven as it was the only hot drink on offer most of the time. Mog steals my dregs sometimes, but mostly she only drinks toddler milk and Vimto.

I only drink decaff as caffeinated makes me hopelessly hyper  (Tasha will recall me skipping along on Saturday after just 2 cups  ) I remember though, a weekend treat being allowed a plastic mug of very weak tea from our parents' teasmade on a Saturday and Sunday morning, we went in to sit on their bed.

Rosie has the odd cup but isn't really a hot drink fan, but she makes a good cuppa.

My 2 eldest have the occasional cup, usually at my mum & dad's. It's mostly milk though with a hint of tea just to make it warm. Think it makes them feel very grown up  Otherwise it's water, milk & the occasional weak squash. They don't like fizzy drinks & neither do I, so we never buy them anyway.
