Chucky Mama
As a result of the dry weather in parts of the country, some birds are struggling to find mud to build their nests I heard an appeal of the news today asking for people to piles or shallow trays of mud out to help them nest build. Chucky Mama
We had about 10th of a millimetre down here today. The ground is parched.
craftyhunnypie
I dampen down a raised bed in hot weather to avoid all the dust over the garden. It's the girls dustbath - but gets over dusty sometimes & when the breeze catches it it's like a sandstorm! So I get the shower hose on it or the watering can. Have seen birds getting beak fulls of the stuff. That & feathers! Emma.x
The Dogmother
Parched here too, we have lots of hose martins in the street so I'll make them a mud bath for their construction projects.

beach chick
I have visions of everyone out making mud pies! I have 3 veg beds and one flower bed that I am watering every day at the moment (all new stuff that needs to get established), and I have noticed that the birds are very keen - I just thought they were after worms that the water had brought to the surface.
