chuckmum6
I have a Maran bantam who has been poorly for about 10 days, she has had an injection and antibiotics but they have done nothing. I have also given her nutidrops, she isn't eating now and is lethargic, I shall take her to the vets again on Wednesday, but probably to be put to sleep. None of the other chickens are showing any ill effects just poor Ronnie. Edited May 25, 2011 by Guest

Jools
I lost two Marans bantams that way too, they laid themselves into early graves and vitamin / steroid injections only delayed the inevitable. Good luck for Wednesday.
sparkysmum
Are they pale Avian leucosis This was something I discussed with my vet when I lost one of my pekins a few months back. I don't think there is any treatment. Hope she picks up though. Alli x
chuckmum6
Thanks everyone, she is only 2, she did lay through the winter, but then stopped laying in the spring. She isn't particularly pale, but as she isn't eating she isn't her normal colour. The vet couldn't find anything obvious so gave her a general antibiotic. chuckmum6
I took my little maran bantam to the vets to be PTS, she was ever so light and wobbly. My vets are great and really chicken friendly, it took a while to find her vein, but she soon drifted off . The vet said he though it could have been her liver or a tumor, not something that would affect the rest of my flock. Poor little girl she was such a fiery character.
