chickencam
My DS has just come back from his DofE Bronze practice expedition. Despite advice he insisted on wearing his old walking boots instead of borrowing his sister's expensive larger ones. he now has big holes in his feet, they are no normal blisters they are craters Any advice on the best way to treat them would be gratefully received. He had a pack of blister plasters in his first aid kit but despite being told on numerous occasions that they were there he stuck tape over them that was intended for sticking bandages together with and had no padding on it, which he then had to remove along with most of his skin when he got home. He had a bath when he got home and has been barefoot since and fortunately it is half term so he doesn't have to wear shoes for the next couple of days. I am impressed that he stuck it out and so was his head of year who saw him limp round for most of today.
Blackrocksrock
Owie - blister plasters are specially made for this and should pad out the holes so to speak - may need big ones - what a star he was.
sparkysmum
Same here, hydro colloid plasters / blister plasters really do the job.
patsylabrador
I think soaking them in warm water with dettol is recommended, and the gel blister plasters are excellent. My son once came home from a tab ( when he was training in army ) and hadn't dared take off his boots. His feet were a complete ripped up mess. He had bound his feet with zinc oxide tape. Not good drills really but it's good stuff. The plasters should be popped on as soon as you become aware of sore, rubbing feeling to prevent blisters forming. Well done to your son for manning up & keeping going.
chickencam
Thanks for the advice, I will leave them for tonight then stick some blister plasters on them in the morning.
Redwing
That sort of wound is awfully damp so I'd try to keep it dry and put some Melolin (not sure about spelling) pads over the wounds in the day and remove them to let the wounds get some air at night to try and get them to dry out quicker

Bramble
I think Compeed are fab too BUT discovered the Tesco own brand a while back (they were all my local branch and I was desparate!) and as far as I can tell they are are every bit as good as Compeed but a fraction of the price!
