hopingforchickens
I've been looking for a good, interesting branch to put in my WIR for the girls for the last week and today I found it The best part is it was at school lying next to the playground! I checked with the office and they said I could have it, so then all I had to do was carry it home (not an easy task ). Anyway it was worth it. The girls are slightly suspicious but have already had a jump on it, so here is a picture (OK Lovli Tallulah was placed on it for the purposes of the photo ) Edited June 10, 2011 by Guest

jennym
Lovely! I'm sure your girls will come to love it. (that's for the branch but also for your nice, spacious WIR!)
Sam
(OK Lovli Tallulah was placed on it for the purposes of the photo ) I've resorted to doing that - I've put some nice perches in their run and they just don't bother with them, so I put them up there to see if they like it... they don't But hopefully they'll like yours, it looks great

hopingforchickens
Thanks everyone, I put ALOT of hard work into that run I think the picture makes it look bigger than it is though! It's 3m by 2.5m, but the chooks seem really happy in it, although I've been letting them out at the weekends and a bit in the evenings so now every time I come near the gate they want to squeeze out, last night I couldn't get Henrietta in for ages I'm sooo pleased with the branch, they have 3 perches now plus that and they are starting to explore them more and more - their favourite place is still the top of the house though just need to save up for an Eglu now (but shhh don't tell dh )
Ain't Nobody Here
I get sadly excited when I find the perfect branch too . My best find was a Y-shaped branch which I cable-tied rungs to, to make a ladder .
witzend
is any ol' branch ok or are any poisonous to chickens? Just asking because there's a safety issue with geckos!
suzannejoy
looks great , bet they love it .

migsy
Looks great Witzend - I think any branch will do.
reneepren
what is the safety issue with geckos? My hens occassionally catch one and fight over it before devouring it whole! Tyrannasauras Pex! Renee
witzend
LOL - these are UK pet crested geckos - if you put wood in their vivs it's got to be specially treated to get rid of insects/parasites that might be on it and some woods can be poisonous I'm guessing chickens are a hardier bunch!!! hopingforchickens
used said branch as a sort of activity feeding station today, very pleased with my efforts and the girls managed to get all the cabbage down so I will definitely be trying that again I've also been out today and purchased some new egg cups and an egg basket... come on ladies
