witzend
As you know - I've now got my 4 babies I'd prepared for slightly older birds so I've got AVC/mineral powder/liquid tonic in......should I be using these this early (5-7 weeks) - if so, how/when? If not, when should I start?
Plum
If you are feeding growers pellets they shouldn't need supplements but ACV does keep the water fresh, just add a small splash. Have your babies arrived off to find your thread
Egluntyne
I agree. They don't need bombarding with too many supplements at this young age.
witzend
cheers - that's what I wondered. Do they go onto powder/tonic when they're eating LAYERS ?
Plum
No use them at times of stress like moulting, changing where they live, if they've had an illness etc., The problem is you can inadvertantly upset the balance of their diet. Having said that I do use some in rotation like ACV, liquid tonic and oregostim but only at weakest dose. If their feathers look a bit dull or droppings a bit loose or getting funny eggs then you can use them. I think the best thing is not to use them all the time, others may think differently as you've probably discovered on this forum
witzend
Well I certainly don't want to overdo anything. I saw somewhere about using AVC for 1 week per month for best results?? The powder/tonic advises on the back to use all the time - but, then again, they want you to buy more!!! I'd thought about adding a bit of the powder (when older) but saving the tonic as a 'tonic' - if you know what I mean!
