eBay problem - opinions needed

Recommended Posts

I sold an item at the weekend,& today I sent a polite email asking when I might receive their payment.

I had a VERY snippy response saying that they had been away & that they would pay today.

They also said that they didn't like that I was pressuring them to pay & that the item 'had better be 100% perfect or you are getting negative feedback'

Now,I am a very experience eBayer,& instinct tells me not to deal with this person any longer.

They have now paid,& the item is perfect,but I suspect they may neg me in spite of that.

Should I refund them& cancel the transaction,can they still leave feedback for me?

I am sure I noticed on someones feedback that the buyer thought the seller had made an excuse to cancel a sale because it did not reach a high enough price. So it appears that they may still be able to leave feedback. I am not very experienced though so I maybe misread. Hope it goes ok, but it does sound as if they may be a difficult customer :? .

I'd be inclined to contact ebay, or even ask on the forums there. Mind you, I always find you get some snooty so and so's on there, picking holes in your listings. Or reply to the buyer, being ultra nice & apologising as you didn't mean to be pushy (knowing in your heart you are in the right asking if they were going to pay) :wink:

Looking the Ebay guidelines of feedback from CM's link

Negative Feedback allowed;

...

"Buyer receives the item and decides that it is significantly not as it was described in the original listing. The buyer tells the seller that they will leave negative Feedback unless the seller allows it to be returned for a refund"

I think as long as you take photos of the item to show its condition is as you listed it, before you send it, then you will be able to prove them wrong if they claim that it is 'significantly not as described' and challenge /report any inappropriate negative feedback

You be direct and ask the buyer why they would be threatening things like, and maybe suggest that if they want to back out of the deal you would consider that an end to the matter.

I have not sold anything on Ebay but have bought a fair bit and I'm sure I'm not the only one to check sellers feedback not just the rating. Since sellers can write responses to feedback left, if I find a negative I read the buyers and sellers comments and then make up my own mind. So what I'm saying is you can respond to anything negative and people can take that into account. Also you could report negative feedback and get it changed, as long as you can disprove any accusations by the buyer..

Good luck

I am very slowly learning that ebay is a big scary world with some rather odd (to put it mildly) people - I think you can only do as others have suggested, keep your fingers crossed and hopef for the best, but be ready with your reply to feedback if necessary (which hopefully it won't be). Good luck!
