RubyReckless
In February two alsatian dogs jumped over the free range run fence and ripped apart our three chooks. It was awful. for 3 months the garden was dull and quiet and felt so lifeless. We didn't get more hens while the dogs could still escape, and when we were going on holiday too. The owner has now built a higher fence to keep her dogs in, and 5 weeks ago we decided it was safe to get new girls. Our black rock, warren and speckledy came to live in the lovely red eglu, though the girls were rather young (16 - 18 weeks) We are now getting an egg every day. It's only Ida, the Warren, who is laying so far, but reliable fresh eggs again is such a lovely thing! Hurray for chooks!
