Do you give cooked or uncooked corn on the cob?

Recommended Posts

Try s"Ooops, word censored!"ing a couple of kernels off the cob, and they'll soon get the hang of it. Last year I had several cobs - with permission from the farmer, I hasten to add! - from a maize field, and kept them in the garage to give out every so often. Even when they were quite dry and hard, the chooks still loved it.

I give them both!

It's corn season here so I'm getting lots of kernels in my weekly crop share

I always save the husks that I've eaten/shucked the corn off and give them to the girls - they pick them completely clean!

If I have some gnarly old looking ears I wrap them in cling wrap, throw them in the freezer and save them for the winter when corn is expensive and the girls are in need of a calorific treat

Mine would bowl me over to get to it no matter how it was prepared. I just cut a chunk off the raw cob and throw it down, standing well back...

I used to buy small cheap cans when it wasn't in season - that was particularly useful at the beginning when I was trying to convince them I was not a chicken-eating monster. They don't get it so often now but they still recognize corn, in any form :lol:
