Eglu cube or go up with 2m run

My chooks are soon going to be POL so I'm going to start putting bedding in the 'nest' of the EGLU...........what do people use to stop the bedding going through the drainage hole??

I use hemcore (horse bedding) and just throw a couple of handfuls in, Only a very small amount goes through the hole the rest stays in the nesting box. I've never blocked the hole up. What are you putting in the nest box?

I use shredded paper, hole never been an issue.

I use a mix of Straw & Aubiose Not much falls through.

And the Aubiose on top, easy to clean, and when the beast sleep in there easy to poo pick too.

I use barley straw, so the hole has never been an issue.

I just use Aubiose and find that very little falls through.

I use wood shavings and only a little bit used to fall through. I line it with 2 pieces of newspaper now, just makes taking it out easier.

Dogmother has a method for bunging that up - I just use straw in all the eglus though, so I don't have a problem with it

I have bunged all mine up, old coins or cut up circle ofplastic glued in.

I use base of aubiose and chopped straw in mine, got fed up of it all droppingtthrough no matter what I used, though i think shredded paper was least but got sodden and nasty so gave up with that.

My destructive little darlings shred any newspaper in the nesting box (Cube and Eglu). I don't bother blocking the hole in the Eglu (just use Aubiose) but I am using heavy duty cardboard in the Cube until I sort out Dogmother's plastic thing - which I think she should patent

Newspaper was fine until I got some new hens who ripped it up and took it out into the run. Then used some cut up car floor mat, which worked really well until I got a new hen who moves it around so now I use Duct tape over the hole and they've just removed that

My aubiose falls through but that's probably because my girls use the box so energetically

glue in a coin then if they get it out they ca always spend a penny
