In one eglu tonight there are.............

Recommended Posts

............Eleven hens :!::!::!: I couldn't believe my eyes :shock: The chicks free range with the big hens most of the day now and usually at night Mum takes the family off to their own eglu. Not so tonight :!: She is being a bit more independent and must have gone off to her old eglu with her pals and the chicks must have followed her :!: So tonight I have 1 x faverolle, 1 x araucana , 2 x dumpies, a sablepoot, and mum the pekin. Also in the same eglu are all the pekin's chicks which are now bigger than she is. We haven't bothered to close the door, I think they might overheat.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read your post :lol: . 11, I would love to see a photo of them all squeezed in.

suspect some will be sleeping on top of each other - need a photo :wink:

I have 4 bantams in an Eglu and they all have to sleep in the nest box. Now that they are fully grown, one has to sleep on top of the others! Reminds me of the episode of the Young Ones on University Challenge for some reason :lol:

:lol::lol:

Last few nights in the big WIR I've had 8 in the cube, 2 legbars on top, one ex-bat on a shelf and another on top of small hutch and Mrs Summers in a big hutch on her own - she chooses to go in there, I think she likes to stretch out :lol: I have got a new wooden coop coming from ebay - bet they all try to sleep in it :roll:
