mollyripkim
It must be good year for pears this year as I have given loads away and still have loads on the tree.
bluekarin
I did a pear and lemon jam, which was quite nice. A bit graining, like pears are. It must be a bumper year for them. A neighbour down our road has a trestle table out the front with a huge box of them. I meant to pop down this evening to get some

Yorkshire Pudding
How about soaking them in vodka with sugar to make pear liqueur? You lot are going to think I have an obsession....
bluekarin
How about soaking them in vodka with sugar to make pear liqueur? You lot are going to think I have an obsession.... Oh my word! That sounds a great idea. Or could you preserve them whole or halved in alcohol, like an almond flavoured one? Amaretti perhaps?
Yorkshire Pudding
Ooh, that sounds yummy. Wish my baby pear tree was bigger now but it only has four pears on because it's just a tiny tree.
majorbloodnock
Perry? Pear tart (with or without chocolate, and with or without frangipane)? Pear and blue cheese salad? Lamb and pear tagine? Several good duck recipes with pears...
chickencam
My tree is small too but it does have 4 huge pears on it. I was wondering it you poached them lightly in syrup if they would freeze ok or if they would just turn to mush?
miffy
thanks for your suggestions. They are being eaten as fast as we pick them, the comice that is. The others have almost no taste and are rather firm. I think poaching them is a good idea, and perhaps cooking with some duck..hadn't thought of that thanks again.
