Alis girls
I am sure dogs do too - I have never owned a dog. Felt low +++ this am (suffer depression) and was sitting watching the girls when something bumped me hard in the side and there was my cat Honey come for a cuddle. She had obviously decided as I hadnt noticed her she'd make me - hence the bump!! I also notice when I feed her she licks my hand (never does this to OH ) My old cat used to stay with my mum all day when she was in bed after her chemo for cancer. Never moved except for loo and came straight back. My mum never forgot this and was touched by her care. We underestimate how caring animals can be. Couperwife
awwwww (sorry you are feeling low though) its true about cats sensing your moods, all cats ive ever lived with come for a cuddle when I need one and i usually get a curled up puss when I get bad tummy cramps - which is nice (the cat - not the cramps ) hope you are feeling better soon cathy x
Alis girls
Thanks Cathy it will pass - the nice weather has helped - I think a furry ho"Ooops, word censored!"er bottle would be lovely on a crampy tum. Animals are wonderful pick me ups. I was touched by her love.
Daphne
I hope you feel more like yourself soon too You are so right about cats. I've often thought I'd hate to be without one, especially when I'm old and doddery. My girl cat will paw me like a dog when she wants attention, and will always walk up the garden with me, she is so loving and insistent she takes my mind off any problems. My boy cat will put his arms (er actually his front legs, they don't actually have arms do they ) round you and give you a hug! I am perfectly convinced they are mind readers. They do know when you're going to take them to the vet don't they! Strokes and cuddles all round; its good medicine.
chickencam
I too find that my cats are a great pick me up and a reason to get going sometimes when it is a struggle. I find hens do this too, get you out an d doing rather than in an down, this helps me particularly in the winter. Hope that you are feeling ok today Ali. squiffs
My cat is a bit useless when I'm upset, he just sits several metres away looking at me with a look of disgust if I'm crying. He's affectionate at any other time, though!
chickencam
Obviously the exeption that proves the rule then

dancing cloud
My rabble certainly seem to know when they're needed and I've really valued my kitty-cuddles in the last few weeks. I've finally been made redundant from work and negotiating the terms of this has been rather more difficult and stressful than it need have been. When I've come home, there've been cats and hens all eager for attention (and food) and when I've been on the phone Tozi has come to lie on my knee and purr at having his head rubbed. At three o'clock in the morning when I've been wide awake, I've just needed to reach out to Cleo to have her roll over and purr with genuine pleasure. Now it's all over (except for my former employers actually paying me) the cats are all going about their usual lives, but I'm very grateful to have had their company and would not have wanted to go through this totally on my own. I'd recommend kitty-cuddle therapy every time!
Alis girls
Hope things pick up DC and your mob of kitties sound a lovely lot. they are lovely arent they?
dancing cloud
Now I'm a lady of leisure, I've started volunteeering at the cat shelter Loki and Cleo came from and did my first stint this morning. There are lots of lovely kitties in there just waiting for a home, but I did manage to resist bringing home any more. I've very much appreciated my little mob in recent weeks, especially Cleo. She has a disfigured face and permanent health problems (all of which I knew when I adopted her) and the loveliest, cuddliest nature - with just enough naughtiness to keep her fun ! Alis girls
My lady is sitting on my knee as I type. She likes to see what is going on on Omlet
snowberry
My cat used to bring me 'presents' when I was widowed. When things cheered up a little, she stopped (or perhaps she got miffed & saw that I launched them over the hedge at the back of my house when I thought that she wasn't looking! ) She's never bought anything in before or since!
