Geoid
What exactly is the problem with the house? Did the engineer say?
Lewis
Nope, they tend to turn up at completely different times to when they say and then leave without talking to one if us so no ideas! I think my flatmate spoke to the engineer on the phone but doubt he asked what was wrong with the house, I just thought it was an excuse tbh. Lewis
5 months on... WE HAVE INTERNET IN OUR HOUSE! I spoke to Virgin earlier in the week who said they weren't happy sending someone else out 'cos we're wasting their time, so if they do we'll have to pay £140 I said no we're not paying, we paid £80 installation come and install it, so Chief Officer man said he'd send someone out on Thursday as long as we're in... A BT Openreach turned up this morning (not when they said but not a prob) and has finally fixed it! He said he can tell the other 4 engineers haven't turned up and we weren't in 'cos if they say they can't gain access they have to say what colour the front door is, and they all got it wrong. He said its ridiculous we've had to wait so long when it was so simple to fix, esp that they've lied just to get £140 from us and we still should go to Watchdog... Now to ring Neil at CEO office to get a refund for the last few months of bills, which they said they can't do til its an active account
The Dogmother
Finally! You go for it Lewis and take it to the ombudsman too.

WitchHazel
Woo hoo... Not a great speed Lewis...what speed did the line test estimate that you'd be able to get?
Ain't Nobody Here
Thought you might like to see my results for comparison (I do have a superhub though which is supposed to be a lot faster).
Lewis
This is a friend in Brum's result... I think we were meant to get 6mb then someone mentioned it being doubled but not sure whether thats just the fibre optic or not - we're just 'normal' phone line broadband. squiffs
I think your speed can sometimes be really naff if you're a distance away from the nearest exchange.
Chook n Boo Mum
...and Manchester to Aber constitutes a fair distance Though any speed is better than the past five months service.......
Ain't Nobody Here
makes mine look rubbish . So much for the "super"hub .
WitchHazel
Hmm. I got one result using speedtest.net (39mbps download), and a completely different result (25.9mbps)using broadbandspeedchecler.co.uk. Upload speeds were broadly similar on both sites./
squiffs
makes mine look rubbish . So much for the "super"hub . Mine's a superhub too, but I'd say it was anything but super. I have problems with it periodically, I have to admit that speedtest was a pleasant surprise.
