Jacuzzi bath advice please....

Recommended Posts

Hi - oh wise people at omlet I need your help

I am in the process of getting a new bathroom....

I only have a bath 2/ 3 times a year due to lack of time ....(i do shower honestly....) ...so a bath is a pure luxury

Now I was wondering if a jacuzzi bath any good...ideally we would be looking at a p shaped bath...I tried looking on the internet for advice but kept finding the outside hot tub.....

So far I have only been told you can't have bubbles....does that mean only if the jets are on or at any time....do the jets need extra cleaning...

The other thing delaying the start is what colour and tiles etc....any help required will be gratefully received....

Thank you

Helen

I have a jacuzzi bath now, and had one in my last house too :D

I currently have the jets at the bottom, my last one I has jets on the side. The side jets are better in my opinion.

Basically, the bottom jets gets things caught in it.... For example, sand from bathing chickens

I clean it out using sterilising tablets after every couple of uses, run the bath and put the jets on with the tablets in.

You can use bubbles when not using the jets. I tend to have bubble, wash my hair, which kills the bubbles and then I put the jets on  best of both world :P

I wouldn't want a boring standard bath anymore

We have one, it was installed by the previous owners of the house. I never bother using the jets though, I actually find them quite noisy and rather irritating if I'm honest. Whereas my OH loves it and always puts the jets on. So it really depends on the person I guess.

I agree with Majuka and never use the jets as I find them far too noisy to be relaxing but OH loves the bubbles. When you're choosing a bath make sure that the side jets are well below the level of the overflow. We have a "cheap" MFI bath (bought with Tesco's vouchers a few years ago) and if the bath's full enough for the jets to work, water constantly runs down the overflow.

I don't have a jacuzzi bath, but we did look into them when we refitted our bathroom a couple of years ago.

Firstly, having used them at Centerparcs I can tell you that they can be noisy - I like as much peace & tranquillity when I bathe as possible,& found the noise a real nuisance.

Secondly, they can be really uncomfy to sit on,those jet things,so look for ones as flat & smooth as possible.

I didn't really like the fact that it was hard to slide down in the bath with the little jet bits there.

I looked into it last year when we had out bathroom done. However given the amount I thought I would use it I was put off by the cleaning regime.. apparently it is important to do it properly and use the right stuff due to the risk of very harmful bacteria. (think about stagnent water in the pipes...yuk yuk yuk) I'm sure others will say they dont bother but I didnt like the thought.
