Gloss-Hen
Hi I am thinking about hatching some jersey giant chicks in the spring and am just wondering if they are a friendly breed Are they placid I do know that they need a special, we have a coop that could fit three
Daphne
Not hatched them myself but I know someone who used to. The birds were friendly and placid and slow growing!
Redwing
They are lovely birds, very docile Sourcing good stock will be your hardest task, there are a few dodgy looking ones out there! If you can find a good breeder of them to get eggs from then you will also have more chance of rehoming any boys If you ahvent seen one up close then do try to see if you can get to one of the big shows this winter to see some up close, you very rarely see them outside of the big shows
Daphne
Although last year at the National they weren't very Giant! They do take quite a while to mature, so bear that in mind if you are looking for egg performance from hens. They are a rare breed, so if you do find some and take them on you will be doing the breed a favour and as Redwing says, you may be able to rehome boys more easily. craftyhunnypie
Ahh not ever thought about Jersey Giants. I'm after a new gentle giant cockerel. Wernlas always used to be a good source for many breeds, but sadly they are no more. I wouldn't know where to find Jersey Giants these days. Good luck!
